
What is the purpose of the program and for whom is it intended?
The Classroom Technology specialty is designed to meet the needs of the K-12 educator who wishes to enhance the curriculum and resulting student learning experiences through the use of information technologies through a standards and performance-based approach to support student achievement.
Can an educator take courses, instead of pursuing a degree?
In addition to those who wish to complete a master's degree in Elementary or Secondary Education with an emphasis in Classroom Technology, some educators may wish to select individual courses which address their needs.
What type of requirements are in the program?
Educators who pursue the specialization in Classroom Technology will complete the general core curriculum required of all graduate students in Elementary and Secondary Education as well as the specific sequence of Classroom Technology courses developed by the graduate student in consultation with his or her graduate committee.
Hour many hours are in the program?
The master's degree programs in Elementary and Secondary Education require a minimum of 31 graduate hours. The required general core is 12-15 hours and the remaining courses will be devoted to the Classroom Technology specialty.
When are courses offered?
Classroom Technology specialty courses are offered on 1-3 Saturdays and via Web and e-mail, as well as i in video. All courses require Web and e-mail access.
What are the requirements for admission to a master's degree program?
To be admitted to a master's degree program, the candidate must:
have completed a bachelor's degree
be eligible for admission into the Graduate School at Kansas State University
What specific requirements are necessary to be admitted to the Classroom Technology specialty?
To enter the Classroom Technology specialty, an educator must have:
1) a current teaching certificate and classroom teaching experience or equivalent
2) experience in using a contemporary desktop or personal computer
3) word processing and applications skills appropriate to grade level/subject
4) regular access to a computer
5) access to the Internet
6) e-mail access (hotmail or other free service is acceptable)

To apply for admission to the master's degree program, candidates must submit the following:
Do students need to be admitted to the KSU Graduate School prior to taking course work?
A student may take up to nine graduate credit hours as a non-degree student in the Graduate School prior to being admitted into a master's degree program. Those who are taking their first KSU graduate course AND who did not receive their undergraduate degree from KSU will need to provide a copy of your undergraduate transcript. This copy does NOT have to be official. It can be mailed with your first enrollment or submitted the first day of the first course.
