The University:

The College of Education:
The NCATE accredited College of Education has 1,800 undergraduate students, 1,200 graduate students, and 112 full-time unclassified employees, 62 of which are full-time faculty. The College includes the departments of Curriculum and Instruction; Educational Leadership; and Special Education, Counseling, and Student Affairs. The College has the largest teacher preparation program in the state and is based on a Professional Development School (PDS) model. The College engages in collaborative activities with local school districts and faculty across campus. Responsibilities:
The Dean of the College of Education is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College. The Dean has responsibility for providing leadership and support for:
- all academic programs in the College;
- high-quality undergraduate and graduate experiences;
- recruitment and retention of high caliber, diverse students to the College;
- effective academic advising;
- continued excellence in school partnerships and the Professional Development School model;
- continued excellence and growth in research programs;
- national and state accreditation;
- working productively with faculty, department heads, deans, students, university administrators and the broader community on interdisciplinary and collaborative projects;
- educational centers and the National Academic Advising Association;
- effective fiscal stewardship and fundraising efforts on behalf of the College;

Manhattan, Kansas:
Kansas State University is located in Manhattan, Kansas in the rolling Flint Hills approximately 100 miles west of Kansas City and 12 miles east of Fort Riley Army post. Manhattan has a population of 52,000 residents. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for outdoor activities such as camping, boating, hunting, fishing, hiking and biking. Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in an educational leadership-related field from a regionally accredited university; have relevant experience as a professionally licensed P-12 administrator or relevant experience working in a formal leadership capacity with P-12 school administrators; and have an established record of publication in refereed journals sufficient for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor tenure-track and sufficient for immediate appointment to the Graduate Faculty with certification to direct doctoral dissertations at Kansas State University. The successful candidate will be assigned to support both on-campus and off-campus programming, including on-ground and distance-learning formats, and will be qualified to immediately provide leadership in establishing and sustaining new academy partnerships with school districts. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to carry out a program of scholarly research and service appropriate to a Research I land-grant university.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in an educational leadership-related field from a regionally accredited university; have recent (within the last five years) significant and sustained experience as a professionally licensed P-12 senior-level administrator; and have experience in working with populations of diverse learners.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have experience in developing and using teaching-related technology; assisting/teaching core and advanced graduate-level courses in a subspecialty area in the field of educational leadership; assisting delivery of graduate-level leadership academy-like coursework in P-12 university/school district partnership settings; developing distance courses; securing external funding; and hold scholarly credentials sufficient for immediate or nearby appointment to the Graduate Faculty at Kansas State University. Responsibilities:
1. Teach and supervise preservice teachers in elementary school science

Necessary Qualifications:
1. Doctorate in curriculum and instruction, science education or related field completed by August

2. Successful experiences with K-12 populations
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills

1. Strong academic background in science
2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Professional Development School (PDS)
partners in a field-based teacher preparation program
3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues in the department, the College of Education, and STEM departments in the College of Arts and Sciences
4. Evidence of ability to teach successfully diverse student populations
5. Demonstrated ability to integrate appropriate technology into classroom experiences
6. Teaching experience in an accredited school in the United States
7. Active membership in appropriate professional organizations
8. Evidence of knowledge and ability to use state standards/assessments in planning instruction
9. Evidence of a well-defined research agenda
10. Experience in planning, writing, and implementing extramurally funded projects
Additional Preferred Qualifications (Associate Only):
1. Eligibility for Graduate Faculty status (Experience with teaching graduate classes, mentoring graduate students through the dissertation stage of their program.
